Frequently Asked Questions

  • During your first therapy session, I will spend time getting to know you and gaining a better understanding of why you are seeking therapy. We will discuss your goals and expectations for therapy, as well as any concerns or questions you may have. This initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.

  • Therapy sessions typically last 45-55 minutes. This duration allows for ample time for meaningful discussions and ensures that each session is focused and productive. However, the duration of sessions may vary depending on individual circumstances and treatment plans.

Some individuals may find that short-term therapy is sufficient to address their concerns, while others may benefit from long-term therapy for ongoing support and personal growth.

  • The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. In the beginning, sessions are generally scheduled on a weekly basis to establish rapport and address immediate concerns. As progress is made, sessions may be scheduled bi-weekly or even monthly. Ultimately, the frequency of sessions will be collaboratively determined based on your progress and goals.

  • Yes, therapy is confidential. I adhere to ethical guidelines and state laws to protect your personal information. I will provide you with detailed information about confidentiality before and during your first session to ensure that you have a clear understanding of how your confidentiality is maintained. I am a mandated reporter in cases of reported neglect/abuse of a child or elderly person.

  • Therapy can be beneficial for individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, struggles in school, and life transitions. If you are experiencing distress or seeking personal growth, therapy may be right for you. To help determine this, I recommend scheduling an initial consultation. During this consultation, you can discuss your concerns and goals, and I can provide guidance on whether it’s the right fit.

  • Therapy sessions are confidential, which means that what you discuss with me will be kept private. However, there are a few limits to confidentiality. If I believe you are at risk of hurting yourself or others, I learn about abuse or neglect, or I’m legally required to report something, I may need to involve others. I will always prioritize your safety and well-being.
